CityLink Center External Relations Director

Position & Description:
Join a small but mighty team on a big mission to bring our neighbors hope and a path to a better future. The External Relations Director is responsible for establishing and executing the strategy for developing and managing donor relationships to match their investment intent with opportunities at CityLink Center to fuel our mission.

Responsibilities includes identifying, researching, developing and maintaining relationships with donors and supporters to fund the operations of CityLink Center, our programs, our partnerships, and amplify our mission. Donors include private foundations, corporations, individuals and churches. Supporters include key external constituents and the general public.

In this role the Director will be a key interface between CityLink Center and organizations, individuals, and entities interested in investing in the work of the center. The Director will assist the Executive Director in setting annual support raising goals and then be responsible for fulfillment of those goals. This role will lead team members who are responsible for events, grant-writing, and communications. The role will keep the Executive Director and Board of Directors apprised of the activity and outcomes associated with cultivating and securing funds for the organization.

Mission and Vision Support:
The External Relations Director directly supports CityLink’s vision and mission through fostering a network of supporters which enables the financial sustainability of the center. Through engagement and communication, we will help to educate, inform, and enlist the support of a broad range of individuals and entities for a sustainable long-term path for the center and its operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned as appropriate):
Lead Total Development Strategy:
 Set development strategy, approach, and processes for organization to effectively engage donors through individual giving, grants, corporate sponsorship, and events
 Create and manage pipeline of potential donors to introduce and connect them to our mission
Individual Donor Development:
 Identify and engage individuals interested in mission
 Facilitate relationship through correspondence, tours, visits, events, meetings, etc.
 Maintain correspondence and engagement with donors
 Work closely with the Board to continuously research, cultivate, solicit new sources of revenue
 Lead execution of annual individual appeals (2x per year)
Institutional Giving:
 Support Development Manager research of funder priorities and historic giving
 Prioritize potential donors and determine path to engagement (LOI, Grant Application, etc.)
 Review and ensure grant applications and compliance are meeting objectives
Communication:
 Work with Communications Manager to create materials to support development objectives
 Support Communications Manager in other efforts focused on external relationships
 Support Communications Manager with coordinating workload across organizational responsibilities
Event Management:
 Lead team in execution and support of special events (3-5) throughout year
 Support sponsor and guest enlistment for events and work to promote event attendance

Position Qualifications
 Mature in faith and committed to continuous growth
 Possess extremely strong relational skills, able to easily engage with broad range of individuals
 Strong verbal and written communication skills
 Ability to think strategically across multiple priorities and initiatives
 Self-starter and solution focused
 High organizational skills and follow-through
 Works well with diverse groups of people and able to lead collaboration
 Ability to work through challenging situations
Education and Experience
 Possess a bachelor’s degree in applicable field
 Demonstrated success in designing and implementing campaigns and fundraising initiatives
 Success in mobilizing financial resources, knowledge of local philanthropists and foundation directors a plus, experience in donor management
Skills
 Proficient in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft suite, web applications (WordPress)
and communications platforms (Mailchimp, Adobe)
 Experience in design, implementation, and operation of financial campaigns
 Organization and planning skills
 Grant proposal writing experience preferred but not required
 Ability to create narrative and shape story of our mission and progress

Ability to inspire and mobilize individuals to carryout initiatives, events, and other engagements
Time Commitments
 Full Time – 40 hours /week
 Hours as determined, typically Monday – Friday
 Must be available for special events, meetings, and training
