Employment Specialist

Position & Description:
The Employment Specialist is responsible for supporting clients graduating from industry training tracks
in attaining employment. In this role, the Employment Specialist will work with industry training
programs to understand the clients, their goals and aspirations, their unique skills and situations in order
to effectively match them to the proper employment.

In this role the Employment Specialist will be a key interface between service delivery organizations,
CityLink Center staff, and employers to ensure that the best match is being made. They will support
clients in attaining internships. Most importantly, they will walk the ‘last mile’ with clients graduating
from programs coordinating interviews, supporting applications, and being a resource for clients making
employment decisions.

The Employment Specialist will also work closely with the training tracks to ensure that the curriculum,
learning objectives, and outcomes are meeting employer and industry needs.

The Employment Specialist will also support the client experience including recruiting strategies to
increase client awareness and volume within the training programs and employment support.

The Employment Specialist will also work with employers interested in having their existing employees
engage in support programs.

The Employment Specialist directly supports CityLink’s vision and mission connecting individuals to
careers. Through engagement in training tracks and the employee support program, the lives of clients
will be changed while leveraging the strength of partners and volunteers to address this pressing
community need.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned as appropriate):

Placement Support

  • Work with programs for internship placements for on the job training.
  • Work directly with training tracks (Culinary, Construction, Auto Tech, etc) to connect graduating
    clients with trusted employers for full time employment.
  •  Gain an understanding of individuals unique circumstances graduating from those programs to
    make the best match to the correct employer and job.
  • Coordinate interviews, matching employers with clients.
  •  Support the application process, walking with clients through any application and
    documentation required to gain employment.
  • Evaluate placements for efficiency and improvements including outcome reporting, client
    feedback, and industry feedback. Benchmark best practices to inform programs.

Identify and Maintain Partnerships

  • Identify and Maintain partnerships with employers
  • Maintain productive relationships with partner organizations delivering content.

Employment Support Program

  •  Coordinate scheduling, employee engagement, and process for employers to send employees to
    the employer support program
  • Receive feedback from employers and their employees to support and improve the program

Education and Experience

  • Experience working with job seekers, job placement, employer relations
  •  Experience in working in collaborative environment with multiple partners
  • Experience in Human Resources, familiarity with hiring processes
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft and web applications
  • Familiarity in case management software or other similar systems
  • Organization and planning skills

Time Commitments

  • Hours are generally Monday through Friday with some Saturdays, between 8am and 9pm
  • Must be available for special events, meetings, and training

Compensation

  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • Healthcare/ Dental/ Optical high deductible plan, $0 monthly out of pocket cost

  • 5% Retirement Contribution

Time Commitment: 40+ hours /week
